Space is a specialized architectural monthly which was first published in 1966 and has been at the vanguard of covering the arts and culture scene here in Korea ever since. The magazine features not only architecture, but also diverse cultural and artistic activities across the spectrum of the fine arts. Space offers its readers a wide variety of architectural news throughout Korea, in Asia, and the world in general. 경계 없는 미래의 캠퍼스를 구상하다 Envisaging the Borderless Campus of the Future • ‘뉴홍익: 홍익대학교 서울캠퍼스 조성사업 국제지명 설계공모'(이하 뉴홍익 국제지명설계공모)는 홍익대학교 서울캠퍼스의 2만 9,837m2의 부지에 13만 6,197m2의 새로운 공간을 조성하는 미래 캠퍼스 마스터플랜이다. 개교 이래 처음으로 수립되는 대규모 마스터플랜으로, 현 캠퍼스 면적의 1/3을 이용해 현 시설면적의 1/2에 해당하는 공간을 새롭게 조성하는 계획이다. 2031년 완공 예정이며 예정 공사비는 4,410억 원 규모다. 홍익대학교 앞 거리는 젊음과 인디 문화로 유명한 서울 문화 지형의 한 축을 담당하고 있으며, 국내외 많은 관광객이 찾는 서울의 명소이자, 예술인들의 고향과 같은 지역이다. 이 사업은 홍익대학교 앞 거리 문화와 공존하는 홍익대학교의 정체성을 국제적 맥락에서 공간적으로 구체화하는 사업이기도 하다.
