Aflatoxins in peanut butter – a perennial problem • Recently a recall of quite a number of peanut butter products took place in South Africa due to routine analyses by a retailer. The analysis showed that the aflatoxin levels exceeded the maximum allowed by South African regulation R1145 of 8 October 2004 (as amended), promulgated under the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act.
