To the moon & back • With its global launch at the 53rd Sydney International Boat Show in July 2022, potential buyers for the new ILIAD 62 flew in from the US, Asia and across Australasia to view the vessel. Three such groups then went on to purchase a 62 whilst attending the show.

Skipperi doubles Auckland fleet • Boat sharing service ‘Skipperi’ is adding a further 20 boats to its greater Auckland fleet, as well as another base at Half Moon Bay.

OLD BOATS HEAVEN • This is an Up the Creek adventure that can be approached in both directions: either by car, downstream from a skyline of magnificent views, or upstream by dinghy from your boat moored in the bay. We did both and can’t decide which was our favourite. You choose.

KEEP AUSTRALIA ON YOUR LEFT • A blustery southerly blew us north from Sydney, so there was no turning back, even as the tired rigging on our ancient quarter-tonner groaned.

Leaving the marina • 10 tips for departing a berth in a twin-engine launch with wind behind, blowing you out.

A FINE VINTAGE • Does a good boat, like a fine wine, just get better with age? That seems to be the case with Buccaneer’s 605 Exess, a boat I reviewed for the first time in 2003. I had the opportunity to review the latest version of this evergreen model in Cromwell recently, a 605 Exess XL owned by Greg Fenwick, who’d also owned the boat I reviewed 20 years ago. That’s brand loyalty for you!
