MG Enthusiast

Dec 01 2022
Magazine

MG Enthusiast, the world's best-selling MG magazine, is the long-established make-specific publication dedicated to all MGs, covering all examples from the earliest 14/40s, through the T-Types to the more familiar shapes, including the Midget and the ubiquitous MGB; and not forgetting the more contemporary mid-engined MGF and the ZR/ZS/ZT saloons and hatchbacks.

MG Enthusiast

On the road again

INTERNATIONAL MG ACTIONS • As we draw to the close of another manic year of new MG product action, in particular the arrival of the new MG4 and the much-improved MG5 EV Estate, we thought it was worth reflecting on the work of the local MG sales companies around the world, who have also been busily at work delivering new product and enticing fresh customers into the MG fold…

MG DESIGN LATEST… • Next month we will bring you the exciting story of a brand-new initiative sponsored by SAIC Design’s London studio, in partnership with a highly talented British sculptor, plus the latest on the annual SAIC Design Competition.

CAR OF THE YEAR… • This year, the annual ‘Car of the Year’ competition, assessed by a large cohort of motoring journalists (six of them from the UK) will be deliberating over potential winners of this coveted award. For 2023 there are, unusually, two MG candidates – the MG4 and MG5. We will keep an eye on the process

FRESH OUTPUT OF BRITISH MOTOR HERITAGE MIDGET BODYSHELLS

YOUR MGs • Our new ‘Your MGs’ feature has seen us inundated with images of the Octagon’s finest, old and new, so it looks like this feature is here to stay! Whatever MG you own, please send in some photos to mg.ed@kelsey.co.uk with a few words about your MG story and where in the world you live…

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY • Robert Kemp’s MG collection not only tells a family tale but also the story of MG itself…

Taking charge • Alan Feast is a man who loves a challenge but his long-term MGA project, owned since 1975, took a new direction when he unearthed a rare Judson supercharger.

On the up • Early MGFs have surely become some of the most collectable, with prices beginning to rise. For MGF and TF specialist David Koskela, the first of MG Rover’s open top sports cars hits a sweet spot, particularly in red.

ALWAYS A YORKSHIREMAN REMEMBERING CLIVE RICHARDSON • This summer saw the cruel loss of a veteran of the British motorsports world, when Clive Richardson and his wife Angela both met their untimely and tragic demise. Clive’s name may not be immediately familiar to most MG enthusiasts, but he was well-known and widely respected within the wider motoring and motorsports community for his knowledge, professionalism, friendship and, as David Knowles explains, his career was well rooted in the MG world, touching on MG matters a number of times over the years.

Christmas Gift Guide • Looking for the perfect Christmas gift for you, your MG or the MG lover in your life? Here are some of the top festive gifts that you might want to find under your tree this year…

GETTING CERTIFIED • The British Motor Heritage Certificate is almost a ‘birth certificate’ for your MG – but how are they produced? We paid a visit to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon to find out.
