Australian Quilt Show CHALLENGE

Florabunda • This wallhanging features an abundance of gorgeous flora and pretty stitches.

Snow BLOOMS • Appliqué is Deirdre’s passion, along with recreating and making with reproduction fabrics! She loves using two different blocks to bring a secondary pattern to life. The fabrics in this quilt are from Deirdre’s new reproduction collection called Renewed Traditions. The prints have been reclaimed from antique quilts in her collection and were recoloured in the traditional reds, greens and golds that are prevalent in many antique appliqué quilts. The quilt features a cream, aged muslin for the background. Deirdre said that when she finished the quilt, the appliqué almost looked like flowers blooming in the snow — hence the name.

TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP • Creating Abstract Skies with Paint and Piecing

Pack and follow THE QUILTS OF JENNY BOWKER • Ten of Jenny Bowker’s amazing quilts were exhibited at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery from June 4 through to September 18 this year.

TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP • Decorating the Surface of Fabric

AUSTRALIAN BOOKS • We hope you enjoy these reviews of new and not-so-new books by Australian authors.

AUSTRALIAN DESIGNED Fabric Ranges • Here is a small collection of ranges designed by talented Australian fabric designers. Each range has a number of prints, we share five of each from Max & Louise, Kathy Doughty, Jen Kingwell and Zac Bennett-Brook.

Award Winning Quilter • JULIE ADAMSON

Corners in the OUTBACK • This stunning quilt was designed by Michelle specifically for the members of the Quilters Companion/Travelrite Outback Tour to Uluru that she guided in April 2021. In honour of the locations they visited and the traditional custodians of the Anangu people, this quilt is made using Indigenous print fabrics.

Best of Australia • The Best of Show quilts from each state and territory’s 2019 guild quilt shows were finally brought together and judged at the in-person Australasian Quilt Convention held in Brisbane in May 2022. Congratulations to each quiltmaker, and especially to the Bernina Best of Australia winner – Catherine Butterworth for her quilt Starcrazy.

British Frame QUILT

Honouring DI FORD HALL • June 14, 1951–April 17, 2020

TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP • Foundation Piecing with Freezer Paper

ANNUAL QUILTING AWARDS • Quilt shows and events have been in suspense for more than two years due to the pandemic. Now, as the world opens again, we are excited to be able to attend our favourite events around the country, and the world! The 2022 Australasian Quilt Convention was held in Brisbane in May, 2022. As is the custom at this (normally) annual event, awards and accolades were announced.

EVERY MONTH! • WORDFINDER, MIXED PUZZLES, CROSSWORDS AND MORE!

SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE QUILTS! • On Cosy Project you will find many patterns for all types of crafts. The quilts on these pages are a few of our favourite quilt patterns. www.cosyproject.com.au

AWARD-WINNING QUILTER • 2020 brought so many changes to us all — for me no teaching, no quilt shows to attend, no retreats, no competition deadlines and most of all, no travel. I am usually away 100 days a year and chasing my tail to get everything done. Suddenly that all...
