Chevy country Corvette in Australia • It’s a good time for Chev Corvette aficionados in this country: the Corvette nameplate is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and for the first time the current Corvette model is available in Australia in factory-built right-hand drive form. AMC joined in the celebrations at the recent Corvette Nationals at Ballarat.

Ground zero • With the introduction of Group C rules half a century ago the template was laid down for the future of Australian touring car racing. The '73 ATCC then was 'ground zero' for today's Gen3 Mustang-vs-Camaro Supercars travelling circus.

A fine day at the Farm • Warwick Farm: November 5, 1972

Bathurst Special • For owners and lovers of Falcon GTs, all roads led to Mount Panorama, Bathurst, for the 19th running of the Falcon GT Nationals.

Small wonder • What you’re seeing here measures just 1.9 by 1.0 metres. And while it might only be a miniature model of the real thing, take a look at these photos and you’re instantly transported back in time, back to Oran Park Raceway in the 1970s/early ‘80s. For the man who created this magnificent small-scale masterpiece, it’s a personal tribute, a three-dimensional reminder of the much-missed Sydney circuit.

Frankly speaking Part 2 • When Robbie Francevic fronted at Sandown in early 1985 for the second round of that year’s Australian Touring Car Championship, many Australian race fans – and maybe even some of the drivers – no doubt would have dismissed the little-known (in Australia) Kiwi and the boxy Group A Volvo as a mere oddity, a colourful addition to the mid-pack. But first impressions quickly changed as Robbie steered the Volvo to victory in the very next round. Part two of our Robbie Francevic Muscle Man feature focuses on Francevic’s brief but highly successful, and at times controversial, spell in top-level Australian touring car racing.

Stinger in the tail • The sad reality is that you can’t buy an affordable four-door, rear-drive V8 in this country any more. But if you did want to do a like-for-like trade in of your old daily drive Aussie muscle, then Kia’s Stinger GT is your only option – though not for very much longer.

The Brickie • For 45 years Victorian Graeme Cooper and his trusty EH Holden has been the standard and the constant of Australian dial-your-own drag racing. But now he’s had enough.

Slot car addiction

Muscle Stuff • Essential products for the Australian MUSCLE CAR enthusiast.
