Gospel canticles • The gospel canticles (or “songs”) come from Luke's gospel. In honor of the mystery of the Incarnation (to which all three refer), it is customary to make the sign of the cross as the canticle begins and to stand while it is sung.

The Holy Spirit brings new life • St. Irenaeus of Lyons (c. 130 - c. 202) was born in Smyrna (modern-day Turkey) and became bishop of Lyons, France. This excerpt, from his work Against Heresies, includes beautiful imagery of the Holy Spirit and an allegorical interpretation of the parable of the Good Samaritan to illustrate the roles of the persons of the Holy Trinity.
Finding our way • Find a quiet spot to read, reflect, and pray. You may record your thoughts in a prayer journal, or share your responses with others in a group.
God in motherhood • Mary Ronan Williams, through brief reflections in Meeting God in Motherhood: Opening Our Hearts to Moments of Grace, offers support to mothers from her own experiences as a mom. Through relatable stories and prayers, she helps us remember that motherhood, at its best, expands our hearts into “a training ground for God's grace.”
