Space is a specialized architectural monthly which was first published in 1966 and has been at the vanguard of covering the arts and culture scene here in Korea ever since. The magazine features not only architecture, but also diverse cultural and artistic activities across the spectrum of the fine arts. Space offers its readers a wide variety of architectural news throughout Korea, in Asia, and the world in general. SPACE Peer Review • 월간 「SPACE(공간)」는 이 시대 한국 건축의 창조성과 독자성을 세계에 알리고, 현대건축의 혁신적 변화를 수용하기 위해 매달 건축 작품 게재에 힘을 쏟고 있습니다. 이런 노력의 일환으로 「SPACE」는 게재를 의뢰한 국내외 모든 건축 작품에 대해 피어 리뷰를 진행하여 다양하고 전문적인 관점으로 작품 게재를 공정하게 결정하려고 합니다. 피어 리뷰에는 한국 건축계를 대표하는 건축가와 비평가가 참여하며, 리뷰어의 의견을 반영해 최종적으로 「SPACE」가 작품 게재 여부를 결정합니다. 「SPACE」의 피어 리뷰는 매달 1회, 2̴3명의 리뷰어가 참여하는 블라인드 평가로, 작품 외 투고자의 어떤 정보도 리뷰어에게 노출하지 않습니다. 폭넓은 관점과 투명한 게재 프로세스를 위한 제도인 만큼 많은 관심과 적극적인 작품 투고를 부탁드립니다. 작품 투고에는 사진, 도면, 건축 개요, 설계 설명, 건축가 프로필 및 연락처, 그 밖의 작품 설명 보완자료(동영상 등)가 필요하며, 투고 자료는 편집부 공식 메일 editorial@spacem.org 또는 spacemagazine00@gmail.com으로 보내주시기 바랍니다. 국내외 다양한 건축 작품을 소개하기 위해 중복 게재는 지양하고 있는 점 양해 바랍니다. SPACE strives to feature works of architecture from individual studies in contemporary Korean architecture to the current innovative shifts in international architecture. In this spirit, all domestic and international works of architecture submitted to SPACE as feature proposals will undergo the SPACE Peer Review System, in order to uphold a diverse, professional and fair system of judgement. Each month, all submitted works will undergo a blind test by two to three reviewers, who are representatives of the current Korean architecture scene. We cordially request your interest, support, and participation in submitting prospective featured works, in our efforts to secure a varied point of view and a transparent selection process. For submission, the following materials are required: photographs, drawings, outlines of the work, text description, a profile of architect or architectural firm, and contact information. MASS S TUDIES • 올해 1월, 2024 서펜타인 갤러리 파빌리온의 설계자로 매스스터디스(대표 조민석)가 선정됐다. 이로써 조민석은 2014 베니스비엔날레 황금사자상 수상에 이어 10년 만에 다시 한번 세계 건축계의 주목을 받게 된 것이다. 이번 프레임은 개소 20주년을 지나 중요한 분기점을 맞은 매스스터디스의 작업 목록을 기존의 다이어그램적 시각에서 벗어나 ‘파빌리온’이라는 틀 안에서 새롭게 조명한다. 이 여정에 함께한 박정현 (건축비평가)과 존홍(서울대학교 교수)은 대지와 맥락에 뿌리내리면서도 텅 빈 중심(보이드)을 통해 연결과 장면 전환을 이끌어내는 작업들 사이의 연관성과 차이점을 밝히며, 이번 서펜타인 갤러리 파빌리온 ‘군도의 여백’으로 수렴되는 건축의 계보와 징후들을 추적해나간다 In January this year, MASS STUDIES (principal, Cho Minsuk) was selected as the designer of the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2024.
