QUEENSLAND’S BIG LION IS BACK IN STEAM! • Desmond the 100-year-old Fowler colonial road locomotive and a road-building celebrity in its area is all back together and going. Gary Olsson continues the story of his own engine.

SO HOW DID IT START HERE? • Thanks to Rick Sutcliffe, the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre vehicles section manager. the editor was able to visit Quainton Road on Sunday 5 February for Volunteers Day when eight new members were signed up and have already been contributing in various areas.

MINIATURES OUT IN FORCE AT MASHAM • David Reed attended the Masham Steam Rally where a good selection of miniatures were on show, all of which were well worth a look

SUCCESSFUL PEMBREY • Rob Rayner reports on the Llanelli & District Model Engineers’ 15th Anniversary Rail & Road Steam Rally at Pembrey Country Park

SCOUT – A BRIEF HISTORY • It may come as a surprise to discover that the city of Salisbury was once home to an innovative vehicle maker during the early years of the twentieth century – SCOUT. Allan Bedford investigates.

1938 SCAMMELL MU TANKER –“ONE MILLION MILES AND COUNTING” • Fewer than 2000 Scammells were manufactured between 1920 and the outbreak of hostilities in 1939. Survivors are very scarce, but one acid tanker had the good fortune to find a preservationist owner after a 34-year working life. Zack Stiling talks to its new owner.

ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR • David Reed continues his visit to Dingles Fairground Museum near Lifton in Devon to have a look at some of the historic exhibits, and to try out some of the rides.
