TRANSPORT PRESERVATION’S FUTURE? • During Old Glory’s recent visit to the Buckingham Railway Centre, we were able to meet Steve Green, the Centre’s trustee project manager, who puts his commercial hat on to give us an interesting insight as to how he sees transport preservation centres surviving in the future.

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS FOR RIVER ESK • Over 29 April-1 May the historic 15in Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway celebrated No. 7 2-8-2 River Esk’s 100th birthday. The engine was purpose-built for the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and was delivered in 1923 from Davey, Paxman & Co of Colchester. Matthew Ditch was there to record the occasion for Old Glory.

“FIFTIES FLASH”–1957 COMMER EXPRESS • This Commer Express may look like it’s had a hard life, but it’s a remarkably original and very rare survivor. Saved from a barn by some dedicated preservationists, it’s now back on the road and drives admirably, as Zack Stiling discovers.
