PETER PAN FLIES HIGH IN NORTH YORKSHIRE • David Reed visited Francis Corner in North Yorkshire to have a look at his 1928 Fowler A9 compound road locomotive No. 20434 Peter Pan, an engine that made its rally debut last year. This is part two of the story.

PHIL ANDERSON - SIGN WRITER EXTRAORDINAIRE • Phil Anderson began his sign writing career in the industrial landscape of Teesside, honing his trade lettering vehicles, shop fronts and venturing into the realms of British Steel. As computer-generated signs became more prominent he decided to throw himself head first into the heritage transport industry where his passion for traditional sign writing and old vehicles grew. Here Phil tells his own story.

CHILTERN TRACTION ENGINE CLUB HYDE END RALLY • A weekend of scorching hot sunny weather was just rewards for the much-awaited return of the Chiltern Traction Engine Club’s annual summer rally on 1-2 July, writes Simon Colbeck.

VCC BEST OF WEST KENT 2023 • With the sun high in the sky over the Garden of England on 26 July, over 30 veteran and Edwardian cars, plus a handful of vintage friends, assembled at Penshurst Place for the Veteran Car Club South-East Section’s annual Best of West Kent, reports Zack Stiling. Setting off from the 14th-century mansion, the local Morgan club plus assorted well-wishers in other pre-war cars formed a guard of honour for the veterans as they commenced their 34-mile run through the narrow lanes.

STOKE ROW STEAM AND VINTAGE RALLY • Stoke Row rally celebrated its 40th anniversary in spectacular style this year with another bumper show. Always a firm favourite on the rally calendar, this year the event was blessed with record visitor numbers, the weekend proving popular with day visitors and campers alike. Simon Colbeck went along to see the action.
